WHEN THE ELEMENTS ARE UNLEASHED

Water and fire have inspired two timepieces with the resonance technique at their core. Exactitude and precision are the order of the day.

But what is resonance, exactly? This watchmaking technique, requiring high levels of precision, is based on a simple physical principle: two oscillating bodies that are right next to each other exert a mutual influence and are finally synchronised. Armin Strom has seized on this physical phenomenon and included it in its two timepieces Mirrored Force Resonance Fire and Water.

So, the watch, made of rose gold (Fire) and stainless steel (Water), has a double resonance spring, providing maximum precision. And if the watch name includes the word “mirrored”, then it is because the two balance wheels turn in opposite directions, but at a similar speed. The Mirrored Force Resonance reveals all its mechanism on the dial side. Armin Strom sees three advantages in the resonance technique: it has a stabilising effect on measuring time, it saves energy and it reduces the negative effects caused by disturbances from outside. Three non-negligible points.

Nestling in a 43.40mm-wide glass case with a crystal caseback, the calibre ARF15 is a manual-winding mechanical movement providing the Mirrored Force Resonance watches with their hour, minute and twinned second functions. Running at a frequency of 25,200 vph, it provides a power reserve of 48 hours. The version made of rose gold is available with a brown “hornback“ alligator leather strap, while the stainless-steel watch has a blue version. Only 50 lucky collectors will be able to buy each version of the Armin Strom watch.

Price: 54,000 CHF (Water model) / 67,000 CHF (Fire model)
