URWERK – UR 105-CT STREAMLINER
HYMN TO NEW YORK
This year, Urwerk is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and for the occasion, the brand has unveiled a new model inspired by the architecture of the Big Apple.
What were you doing 20 years ago? For Félix Baumgartner, the memory is still very much alive. This was when he met up with Marin Frei, who was living at the time in New York, and together they launched the Urwerk adventure. For the young designer, then aged 22, his first visit to the city became an endless source of inspiration. You can’t help being overwhelmed by the architecture of the Art Deco style skyscrapers and the Streamline Moderne! Years have gone by and the New York visions have now re-emerged, taking on material form in the new UR 105-CT Streamliner. The timepiece revives the mechanical DNA of the brand, namely an original display of the time with the help of satellites and a carousel. A power-reserve indicator and digital seconds complete the information on the dial. To protect the watch, above the crystal glass sits a cover that immediately evokes the architecture of Streamline Moderne with its grooves and lines. A simple press lifts the cover and unveils the surprising architecture of the calibre UR 5.03 in movement.
When you turn the octagonal case over, two turbines are revealed. The turbines serve to wind the watch, and can be adjusted using a lever mechanism. In the “Full” position, the calibre rewinds whenever you move your wrist. In “Stop” mode, the automatic winding system is deactivated. You can set the UR-105 CT Streamliner to manual wind with 48 hours of power reserve by using the crown.
Two versions are available. One features a titanium and polished mirror steel case, while the other combines black titanium and steel with a black PVD coating.
